Screentests is an interactive multimedia installation gesturing towards Andy Warhol’s work with the same title and is a visual behavioural test and a time-capsule in the making. It consists of three parts: a studio with an automated video camera, where people can record a fifteen-second self-portrait film after acquainting themselves with the rules of the work, a constantly growing digital repository of this footage and a continuous update of recent recordings that are screened in the exhibition.

The work conflates the role and status of participants and viewers. It simultaneously manifests two opposite ideas that attract each other. that of just-about-real-time documentation (with only a slight delay between the time of the recording and of its first public screening) and that of the eternal archive, where each recorded moment will be preserved for future generations.

Screentests was presented in Žiūra’s solo exhibition “Portraits” at the national Gallery of Art in Vilnius in 2022–23 (curated by Anders Kreuger) and in the group exhibition “Waiting for another coming” at CAC Vilnius and Zamek Ujazdovski, Warsaw, in 2018–19 (curated by Anna Czaban, Jaroslaw Lubiak and Ūla Tornau).
