In the summer of 2018 Žiüra organised the open-air festival Gustoniai Art Days. It was the first public cultural event in the history of the village of Gustoniai and the first time when the then six films of the Gustoniai project were presented to the participants themselves and to a Lithuanian audience.

The festival was extensively documented and the audiovisual material edited into the 76-minute documentary film Gustoniai in Gustoniai, 2020. The footage from the festival is intertwined with excerpts from the films, as well as with footage from Žiüra’s personal archives. This sheds some light on his developing relationships with the participants, the emotions and the ups and downs of the process.

All these layers are tied into a narrative that doesn’t fit the traditional criteria for different documentary genres. It nods to cinéma vérité and offers different points of view on a microcosm that reveals something infinitely larger and in fact indescribable.

Gustoniai in Gustoniai premiered as the opening film at the Vilnius Documentary Film Festival in the autumn of 2020.
